| I guess the most amazing thing to me is the depth of his vocabulary as a player. It's not enough to call him a "Blues Player", he's more than that. He can fly deftly between the lines of so many influences with assured authority that it's almost as if he's several players, each possessing depth and conviction in their approach to the song at hand. All of it, every note, is full of passion - full of fury and joy and obvious love of his craft. When he's cutting through a number you can't help but smile sometimes. I used to smile when I'd watch Ali fight, Pete Rose play ball, and I grin when I hear Etta James sing. This player and his band just get me showing teeth ear to ear. I can't wait to see them again, and I intend to buy their new album as soon as I can. You ought to make it a point to do the same. Then we can all sit around together and share a smile, and listen, and enjoy music being played by a man meant to make it. |
